Accident books can be obtained cheaply and are a legal requirement for a public event.This should be an official accident recording book rather than a notebook to ensure that the correct details are recorded. Every incident that happens needs to be recorded in the book, even if it has been resolved successfully. Check with the venue you are using as they may want to record all accidents or incidents on their forms. The information recorded in the accident book comes under the Data protection Act and this needs to be stored securely for 3 years, because this is as long as someone has to make a claim.

BJC is also covered by the RIDDOR regulations.

The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR), place a legal duty on:
employers;
self-employed people;
people in control of premises;
to report work-related deaths, major injuries or over-three-day injuries, work related diseases, and dangerous occurrences (near miss accidents). The easiest way to do this is by calling the Incident Contact Centre (ICC) on 0845 300 99 23 (Lo-call rate). You will be sent a copy of the information recorded and you will be able to correct any errors or omissions.
